Customized implants from the weaving machine

Here, an effective alternative to previous standard methods for the production of stent-grafts and heart valve replacements has been developed: Precisely fitting implants for patients that are produced in weaving machines. The process is fully digital, automated and fast, and incurs only a fraction of the previous manufacturing costs. Computer tomography data is used to generate a 3D model, which is further developed in several steps so that it can ultimately be transferred to a conventional weaving machine as a machine-readable code. In this way, customized, complex geometries can be quickly implemented.
