Ex vivo skin model for infected wound healing

Company
Genoskin, Toulouse, France
The ex-vivo skin model "HypoSkin" consisting of epidermis, dermis and hypodermis developed by Genoskin is suitable for the investigation of wound infections. The model is made from human skin discarded during surgical operations. It could be shown that a specific bacterial biofilm is formed in the wound bed and that Staphylococcus aureus infection triggers inflammatory reactions in the model. Thus, it offers a possibility for the investigation of infected wounds and their therapies.
