P.R.I.T. ExpoCube for toxicity screening of aerosols

Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Exerimental Medicine, Hannover, Germany
The P.R.I.T. ExpoCube allows the use of cell cultures and tissues as air-liquid interface (ALI) cultures for testing inhalable substances from a variety of sources. Cells, ex vivo material, as well as precision-cut lung slices, can be exposed to gases, vapours, aerosols and subsequently analysed for cellular changes. This technology is compatible with commercial culture membranes and insert-multi-well plates. Cells are uniformly exposed to the aerosols in an efficient computer-controlled manner. During exposure, live-cell imaging allows for a direct online observation of cultures.
