Genoskin's HairSkin® product is a ready-to-use human skin model derived from facelift surgeries. These 6 to 8 mm diameter models contain viable hair follicles and are supplied with a special culture medium that maintains viability for up to 7 days, with follicle viability decreasing after 3 days. The average hair follicle density at the back of the head is 65 to 85 follicles per cm², reflecting the natural variability of human tissue. Donors are predominantly women between the ages of 29 and 82, with an average age of 62. Genoskin's network of hospitals and surgeons provides access to a variety of donor types, although facelift harvesting somewhat limits the choice.
