Exposure systems for inhalation toxicity studies

Company
VITROCELL SYSTEMS GmbH, Waldkirch, Germany
Vitrocell Systems' inhalation technologies enable cultured airway cells to be directly exposed along the air-liquid barrier of the lungs. With the systems, different airborne substances such as gases, complex mixtures, nanoparticles and fibers can be examined. The exposure modules are available for use with different well-size formats, cell culture inserts, suspension cells and petri dishes. The modules can be combined with different platforms to simulate different exposure conditions. These enable the cells to be generated and exposed to, for example, dust particles or gas (mixtures). The different platforms enable optimal preparation and even spatial distribution of the tissue samples to be tested. Furthermore, Vitrocell Systems offers a number of different cigarette smoking machines and smoking robots that are also suitable for evaluating newer e-cigarette products. The lung exposure modules are therefore suitable for a large number of different toxicity studies and research into the short- and long-term effects of lung-damaging (active) substances.
