Skin exposure systems for toxicological studies
CompanyVITROCELL SYSTEMS GmbH, Waldkirch, Germany
Vitrocell Systems has developed a number of different skin modules for the exposure of skin tissues to solid, pasty, liquid or gaseous substances. The modules have a capacity of 6 to 8 chambers and special holders in which the micro-tissue can be fixed. The dimensions of the exposure areas and the volume of the receiver medium can be individually adapted to the requirements of the researchers. To automate the process, the skin modules can be combined with various of the company's technologies. The Vitrocell Cloud enables dose-controlled and spatially uniform exposure of the tissue cultures to be examined to aerosols generated from liquids and suspensions. With the Vitrocell Skin Autosampler, precise, bubble-free samples can be taken from the receptor liquid at programmable intervals. With specially designed water baths that maintain a constant temperature of 37 °C (99 °F) for the cell media, the experiments can be performed independently of incubators. The technologies from Vitrocell Systems enable a large number of toxicological exposure studies of the skin and can help to reliably identify active substances that are harmful to the skin.
