EpiDerm™ skin corrosivity test
Validated Method 1998
European Union Reference Laboratory for Alternatives to Animal Testing, Ispra, Italy
The test method is based on the commercially available model EpiDerm™, a reconstructed human epidermis model. Human keratinocytes are cultivated to a highly differentiated, multi-layered 3D model of the human epidermis.
The corrosivity potential of chemicals is assessed by measuring their cytotoxic effects on the EpiDerm™ model. Validated and regulatory approved under TM1998-03 (EU) by EURL ECVAM (TSAR list), OECD Test No. 431.
