Assay to evaluate immunotoxicity
Validated MethodOECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals, Paris, France
The IL-2 Luc Assay is a test method to evaluate the potential immunotoxic effects of chemicals on a T lymphoblastic cell line. This cell line allows quantitative measurement of luciferase gene induction by detecting luminescence from luciferase substrates as indicators of the activity of IL-2 (Interleukin-2), IFN-γ (Interferon gamma) and GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate Dehydrogenase) in cells following exposure to immunotoxic chemicals. The method is intended to be used in an Integrated Approach to Testing and Assessment (IATA) to determine immunotoxic potential of chemicals. Validated and regulatory accepted under OECD test No. 444A.
