This high fidelity synthetic torso is for teaching resuscitative thoracotomy. The realistic heartbeats and heartrate are adjustable. Cardiac laceration repair of the ventricle can be trained while active bleeding and realistic cardiac movements are displayed during the procedure. The suturable wound site is designed for multiple-use. A replaceable pericardium with anchored pleura is capable of simulating hemopericardium. Mimetic-tissue chest walls with embedded ribs allow incision and retraction. It provides the critical landmarks necessary for open cardiac massage, repair of cardiac injury, cross-clamping of the aorta, and pulmonary hilar control.
