The thoracic model of the company FasoLab is based on CT scans from real patients. The rib's material is very close to reality including spreadability. By combining various separately purchasable organs in this artificial rib cage with replaceable skin, lifelike MICS (minimally invasive cardiac surgery) and VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery) training are possible. All relevant steps of lung/lobectomy surgery like excision of fascia, resection of vessels and nerves and lymph node dissection can be performed. Mitral valve surgery can also be trained and all replaceable organs are compatible with standard surgical instruments as well as with devices needed for robotic surgery.
